Senior Design Lead

Are you ready to drive business growth and lead a team to create genre-defining products?

We’re offering a talented Senior Design Lead the chance to work alongside Studio17’s Creative Directors, Ashley May and David Evans, in building a future team of designers, and leading them across multiple exciting projects. This strategic leadership role will see you be involved in all facets of the consultancy, from recruitment to hands-on design, and passing down your experience to up-and-coming design talent.

About Studio17

Studio17 is an award-winning product design consultancy founded by Ashley May and David Evans in 2010. From our Cambridge studio, we have forged a reputation for effortlessly executed, user-centred product innovation.

Our strategic, pragmatic approach to innovation has seen us deliver meaningfully better product experiences, emotive aesthetics, and responsible material use for our clients, including brands such as Joseph Joseph, Umbra, Fiskars, Philips AVENT and many more. From these large international brands, to disruptive, tenacious start-ups, our proven formula has built brand equity and market share. We can deliver a complete development programme, from identifying key product opportunities, design development, prototyping, manufacturing design, to packaging, CGI and art direction.

You will also formulate creative solutions to briefs, collaborate and distribute the workload to hit key development milestones.

Your design experience will have exposed you to a range of materials and production techniques, with an excellent understanding of plastic injection moulding. Moreover, you will be sensitive to the commercial and environmental appropriateness of the materials and methods used.

As an instrumental part of the team, you’ll be motivated to work at pace, and on a variety of different projects which may be at different stages of development. You’ll be experienced in coordinating a team, or working autonomously, alongside the design directors.

Fundamentally, you’ll be a positive, creative individual who is a problem solver with excellent communication skills. You’ll understand the value of strategic product innovation, and how to communicate that to the consumer through intelligent design.
