In a market full of different methods of sharpening knives, the choice can be daunting. Studio17 developed a proven two-stage ceramic wheel sharpener, that presented a clear benefit to the consumer in its foldaway design.

As with many Joseph Joseph products, the functional story surrounds ease of storage and protection – quiet and unimposing when not in use, but ergonomic and reliable when called upon. Consequently, the negative space below the handle was utilized to store the swing out sharpening body, with the ceramic sharpening wheels tightly packaged to preserve its compact profile.

Studio17 engineered an intuitive push button mechanism to unlock the body and swing around, locking at 0 or 180 degrees. Non slip feet and a large flat handle make it comfortable to exert downward pressure on the product when sharpening.

A two-tone colourway serves to highlight the swing out action of the sharpener and the profile of the resultant handle.

Compact dimensions and full surfaces balance a friendly aesthetic when closed, with a confident stance when open for use. Its locking button brings a certain tactility to transforming the product, locking with a reassuring click.

Launched Autumn 2014 and sold globally.
