In conjunction with Motorsport Magazine’s annual ‘Hall of Fame’ induction ceremony, Sir Jackie Stewart holds a Charity Auction in Aid of the ‘Grand Prix Mechanics Trust’. Studio17 was proud to design the display stands for the various F1 car parts donated by their respective teams.

From Sebastian Vettel’s Championship winning steering wheel, to Ayrton Senna’s racing gloves – each item needed to be thoughtfully displayed to show off all the intricacies of each lot. Similarly, the stands needed complement each piece whilst not detracting from them.

A simple turned base was conceived, that could be common across the lots to bring them together as a collection. Recessed panels allowed information to be etched, with the base offset by rubber feet for a subtle floating effect.

With support from engineering partners ARCC Innovations, the stands were constructed with bespoke machined parts to hold each lot. Sebastian Vettel's racing wheel could be removed from the stand using the eject paddles on his wheel, whilst Kimi Raikkonen's Hydraulic manifold could be rotated on a spindal to appreciate each facet.

More complex stands included a cradle for Jenson Button's  racing seat, and a wall mounted fixture for a wheel and tyre. Matching certificate stands were included for the items' provenance.

The completed lots were auctioned at the Hall of Fame event in 2013, and raised over £100,000 for Sir Jackie's charity.
